Do you buy into a lie?

In our life there seems to be lies or misunderstandings everywhere, and I think there are so many in the health and wellbeing sector.

  • Do this and you will lose weight

  • Do this to get a toned body

  • If you don’t do this you will never hit your goal of weight loss

  • If you don’t do this you will never get a toned body

Then back it up with some sort of science.

Is there an element of truth?

Many years ago I worked with a great friend who always said in most lies there is always an element of truth, it took me a long time to work this one out, and I think now I am starting to see what he was saying.

Let’s take a few seconds to think about this.

There is so much conflicting advice out there, so what should we believe and what should we put into practice to improve our health and wellbeing.

One I hear a lot.

This is one that we hear a lot don’t eat after 6 or 7pm if you want to lose weight.

Well is this a lie or is as my friend would say is there some truth in it.

What we do know is that after we eat our last meal which for most people tends to be about this time of the day, this will normally be the time that we snack and for most it would be high sugar or high fat snack.

So the truth is if we don’t eat after 6 or 7pm and don’t eat the high fat and high sugar snacks of course we will cut down on calories thus we will lose weight.

The other one that we hear a lot is which is the best way to tone your stomach muscles , you will only become toned if you get down on the floor and do 100’s of sit ups or crunches, yes these exercises help but they are not the only exercises that you can do, there are many from a standing position.

If you are unable to get down on the floor do the standing exercises.

So back to my friend it is a lie but there is definitely truth in there as well.
