Do you ever find that you can talk yourself in and out of a situation, it is like having a debate with yourself, let's do something or let's not.
A great example of this is when it comes to movement, whether it is going for a walk, going to a class, doing a workout at home, going to the gym whatever it is we can manage to talk ourselves in and then talk ourselves right back out.
Driving along in the car kit bag ready, got everything you need even time and then it starts.
OH if I went home I could put the washing on, have a cuppa, tidy up a bit and get everything ready by the time the family comes home, but If I go for that swim it will make me feel better more relaxed, I should be doing something for me, oh but I am so busy, but I need to feel better about myself, and so on and soon.
Have you ever wondered why you do this?
Well this is called Inner Chatter and most of us do it, some more than others. We basically have a conversation with ourselves, battling with our own thoughts.
We don’t need anyone else to talk us into anything, or talk us out. We are pretty good at doing it ourselves.
We start off wanting to do something and then bang here comes that negative inner voice talking us out of it.
Now I have used the example of movement, but we do it in so many situations we allow that Negative Inner Chatter to stop us from achieving the goals and or plans that we have made.
We are very good at blaming situations around us, family, work and friends but really most of the time it is ourselves and our own Negative Inner Chatter.
So next time you want to do something start to listen to yourself and see if that Negative Inner Chatter is holding you back.
