Let’s go back to basics

Why do we make life so complicated? For some reason the more complicated the more we think we have to do it, as this is what will work for us.

What my dad would say…

Whenever I had a problem with my homework (now that was a long time ago)and went to my Dad he would always say let's go back to basics, let's take this a part and see how it all works and then we can work it out and get to the answer. This always worked apart from ALGEBRA for the life of me I could never get why we had to work out what was X, just tell us. The rest of the time it worked.

This was the same when I got older and had a problem, go to my Dad and he would say let’s go back to basics and lets take this problem apart. We would then find the answer.

Why do we make it complicated?

So for some reason when it comes to our health and wellbeing we do the same, we make it complicated, if someone posts on FB, Instagram or one of these other platforms a new complex eating plan, or a complex workout we think yes that's the answer, and to be honest some of the workout are so hard for most people especially when we are struggling to get off the floor.

Or as a lovely lady said to me once, balance . I am happy if I can get one leg at a time in my knickers.

So back to basics

So back to basics, if you can go for a walk one step at a time, who said it only counts if you climb a mountain, what is wrong with your street, you can walk up and down it. Or find a loop that you can do. One step at a time and build on it. You will be surprised how you can build on those steps which will turn into more steps and more steps and then before you know it will be miles.

So back to basics if you can get your bum off the chair once then build up to twice and so on, who said it would only count if you did squats. Build and build one at a time and before you know you will be getting up from that chair easier and easier

We do the same with food, we try to make meals complicated, to get started on our journey of health & wellbeing. Go back to basics, get a balance of Protein & good Fats can be meat, vegan or a vegetarian option, put some veg with it and you got your carbs. Omelettes with or with or without meat are great and easy and quick. Just take a seat and think.

We are in control of what we feed our bodies so keep it simple.

We make life complicated, it didn’t start out that way.
