Is being the perfect weight on the scale healthy?

Now this is a debate!

We all do it!

We all do it we all jump on the scales hoping the number we see reflects what we want. Some times those number make us jump with joy and another times they send us spiralling because you’ve put on a few pounds or stayed they same, making you feel that  after all that hard work and effort you have put in those numbers are not where you want them to be.

We all want to be the weight we have in our mind and when looking in the mirror we want to be happy with our body shape and size.

Is there such thing?

But is being that “perfect weight” healthy? Is there such thing as a “perfect weight”

BMI

Now the general rule to work out your perfect weight is to calculate your BMI.

Many places look at BMI, the doctors, the hospital, when applying for certain jobs but what is BMI?

Well this is your Body Mass Index.

Now when looking at your Body Mass Index this takes into consideration your age, weight and hight, this doesn’t take into consideration what’s going on, on the inside. So is this a true reflection of your health?

Talk up your brand.

What if I told you could be the perfect weight on those scales, but your insides may not be healthy.

Those numbers on the scale do not only take into consideration “fat” those scales are weighing your whole body, your skeleton, your body fat, your water, your vascular fat and your muscle mass. Meaning that you maybe the perfect weight on the scale, however lacking or even over in some areas, meaning that this is not healthy.

Let’s break this down

What do we want?

  • Lower body fat

  • Higher muscle mass

  • A good level of water

  • Good bone density

  • Good level a vitamins and minerals

How do we achieve this?

All of these play a part in having a healthy inside and how do we achieve this?

Well in simple terms by looking after our bodies. Being mindful of the foods and drink we consume and staying physically active.

So how do you view what’s going on, on the inside?

There are certain types of weighing scales that allow you to do this such as an InBody scale, or Tanita scale.

Now I’m not telling you all to run out and buy one of the scales, but what I am saying is before you focus solely on the number of the scale in IBL or KG think about the bigger picture, think about what that number is made up of focus on becoming the Healthiest version of you .
