Is There A gold Medal With Your Name On It?

How many of us have ever dreamt about winning a gold medal, are you a competitive type of person, no matter what, you are going to go up against the competition and do everything you can to win, to be the number one standing on the Winners podium.

Some of us apparently are born winners so they say, we have the thirst and the appetite to compete and win.

Now I can honestly say I am not in that category, at school I was never brillantat any sport, I gave it a go but I definitely wasn't Gold Medal material.

When I started running

When I started running/ jogging it was like many to lose weight. Getting fitter was secondary and it did take me a bit of time to really get into my stride so to speak. I found that running was something that I really enjoyed, something that I could do just pop on my kit a good pair of running shoes and I was away.

I entered many races but never came away with a gold or a 1st or in fact a 2ndor a 3rd to be honest I don’t think I came anywhere towards the top of the scores, but every medal that I got for completing a race I cherished, I had done that, me, I had run the race, I had done the training and in many cases in not such good weather, but I got out there stood on the starting line with everyone else and off I went.

I enjoyed the 10 mile or ½ marathon races as it took me a bit of time to settle in and get my pace. I achieved 1 marathon and I still have the plate for completing on display.

I was happy with being one of the middle runners, and enjoyed meeting people and making a lot of friends along those roads.

Everyone can win a gold medal.

So what has this got to do with Winning a Gold Medal, well everyone of us can win our own Gold Medals in life we may never stand on a podium being clapped by 100’s but these medals are the ones that we win by turning up, doing training, feeding our body the good stuff, getting over those barriers that a lot of people never see, facing the day, improving our mental health in a positive way.

Your gold medal

Your Gold Medal can come in many forms, being able to catch up with or pickup children or grandchildren. Having enough energy to look after loved ones. Carrying your shopping, walking to the shops instead of taking the car, being selfless and looking after yourself, getting through the day at work.

This race we are all in is tough on times, there will be hurt and pain, they will also be smiles and laughter, we have to take what is given to us but it is how you deal with it you can either give up or you can keep going to win the Gold Medal.

That Gold Medal has your name on it.

NOW CHERISH IT YOU HAVE EARNED IT
